Laulhère
Based in Oloron-Sainte-Marie, at the foot of the Pyrenees, Laulhère has been perpetuating the art of the French beret for over 180 years. As the last remaining manufacturer of this emblematic symbol, it combines tradition and modernity in its unique expertise.
Laulhère has been awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label, and is committed to local, responsible production. Each item is knitted, fulled, dyed and fashioned in its workshops, with extreme attention to detail, to the material - an exceptional French merino wool - and to passing on the right techniques.
Laulhère embodies a committed vision of luxury: authentic luxury rooted in excellence in craftsmanship, respect for people and the enhancement of heritage. Each creation embodies the ethos of a house committed to the transmission, sustainability and beauty of know-how.
Much more than a simple accessory, the Laulhère beret embodies a French art of living, the heritage of a living craft and the elegance of a style that defies time. Free, unique and timeless, it crosses generations without ever losing its strength or its modernity.
Making a beret involves ten or so stages of production, carried out by men and women with a passion for the craft and a perfect command of time-honoured techniques. It takes two whole days' work, sometimes more, and a multitude of checks and adjustments that make each item unique.
